MATAC offers the Industrial Sewing Machine Technician Apprenticeship Scheme (ISMTAS) program in collaboration with Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) and Department of Skills Development (DSD). Under these programs, school leavers, unemployed youths with SPM certificates will be trained to become highly skilled sewing machine technicians , ready to be employed by the industry.

MATAC has trained more than 70 Sewing Machine Technicians since the scheme started in May 2005, involving more than 10 Apparel Manufacturers who sponsored these apprentices. Sponsoring  companies has given their “thumbs up” to some of the apprentices who excelled in their four months on-the-job training practicum with them. This practical training practicum is a compulsory core component of the total eleven months training programme. Successful graduates of this program will be awarded the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia Level 1 & level 2 by Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) under the Human Resources Ministry and is fully recognized by the government of Malaysia.

ISMTAS satisfies the requirements for a solid education as well as providing a platform for students to gain skills.
